A Professional Message about Nano Brows and Microblading From Erica Kovitz
"There is a lot of confusion online about nano brows, microblading, and machine work. Many clients come to me after hearing fear based claims, so I created this message to help you understand the truth. With more than ten years of real experience and a strong background in skin health, I want you to feel informed and confident before choosing the service that is right for you."
Erica Kovitz
There is a lot of fear based information spreading online right now about microblading. People are saying that microblading is unsafe, that it always scars, and that a machine is the only way to create brows safely. I want to address this directly and give you the truth based on real skin science, real healed results, and more than ten years of experience in brow artistry.
Before becoming a brow artist, I spent years working in and managing a medical spa. I understand skin at a clinical level, including skin thickness, depth, structure, and healing patterns. After a full decade of microblading clients with every skin type imaginable, I can confidently say this:
Microblading is not unsafe. Microblading does not automatically scar.
Poor technique scars. Not microblading itself.
Just like any cosmetic procedure, the outcome depends on the skill, training, and depth control of the artist. When microblading is done correctly, with proper pressure and proper angle, it heals clean and soft and natural.
I practice nano microblading, which uses an extremely thin nano blade measuring about 0.15 mm. This tool allows me to create very fine, precise hair strokes with minimal trauma to the skin.
One of the biggest differences that clients need to understand is the difference between true microblading and machine created nano brows:
• Nano brows are done with a tattoo machine.
A single needle taps up and down into the skin, similar to a traditional tattoo machine.
• Nano microblading uses a nano microblade. It is not a single needle. It is a very thin row of needles grouped together to form a tiny blade that measures about 0.15 mm. This is one of the thinnest tools on the market. It allows me to glide gently across the surface of the skin and create a smooth paper cut effect that looks like real hair.
These are not the same technique. They do not produce the same look. They do not use the same motion.
I never use a machine. Every stroke I create is done entirely by hand.
This is true artistry. A machine cannot match the sensitivity, control, and creative freedom of a trained hand.
I also never use the same brow pattern for every client. Many machine based nano techniques rely on a single template pattern that is applied to everyone. This is one reason the method has become popular. It is easier to teach and easier to perform, especially for artists who have trouble creating varied hair strokes. But when the same pattern is used for every person, the result does not follow the natural direction of real hair. This is why so many machine created brows tend to look similar from client to client.
As a true artist, I design every brow individually. I study your bone structure, your natural brow pattern, your hair flow, and your skin type. No two brows should ever look the same, because no two faces are the same.
Here are the facts that matter:
• Microblading only scars when done too deep or too aggressively. Proper technique heals beautifully.
• A hand held nano blade creates the most natural hair stroke because it forms a smooth, continuous line.
• A tattoo machine taps into the skin and cannot create the same fluid hair stroke.
• A machine is not automatically safer. It can cause blowouts, blurred strokes, or trauma when used incorrectly.
• The best method always depends on your personal skin type. Some clients need softer strokes or blended shading. I customize everything based on the individual.
My goal is not to promote fear or to compete with other methods. My goal is to give you real education in a space that is often filled with misleading claims. You deserve honest information from someone with real experience, not fear based opinions from social media.
I also want to say this clearly. Microblading is not the best choice for every single person. Some clients will truly benefit from a blended technique or a softer approach. I encourage you to do your own research, ask questions, and choose the method that feels right for your skin and your comfort.
This letter represents my expert opinion based on ten years of hands on work, thousands of clients, and countless healed results. My priority is always your safety, your confidence, and giving you brows that look natural and feel completely your own.
With love
Erica Kovitz
